General Qualities & Characteristics

Gulf Chain Saw Bio is an environmentally-friendly, zinc-free, chain saw oil based on a naturallly occuring vegetable oil and special additives to impart tackiness, adhesiveness and lubricity (slipperiness) for the finished product. This product offers a high degree of biodegradability (more than 90% in 3 weeks) as described in the CEC-L-33-A94 test method. The CEC procedure indicates the ‘ready biodegradability’ of a product by non-acclimated, naturally occurring organisms.
 

Application Requirements
Gulf Chain Saw Bio is intended for systems demanding a high performance, wide temperature range, chain saw lubricant, that is also biodegradable. These products are particularly recommended for applications where there is a possibility of environmental contamination hazard due to accidental spill or leakage. Their use should be considered in unattended or outdoor equipment such as in timber harvesting, mowing, airport fleets, and construction machinery or whenever ground or water contamination is a problem with petroleum lubricants.
This oil contains special additives to reduce friction saw and guide components in thin saw equipment. These additives inhibits rust formation and pitch and resin deposits. Oiliness agents have been added to provide excellent film strength for boundary lubrication conditions. These oils also contain a stickiness additive to enable the lubricants to cling saw components. It prevents overheating of the chain and loss of strength due to overheating.
 
Recommendations
Gulf Chain Saw Bio is specifically formulated to lubricate modern, high-performance ‘thin-kerf’ sawing systems. They meet the performance requirements of most saw system manufacturers like Kockums CanCar, Salem, Schurman, and Ukiah.
Gulf Chain Saw Bio should not be used for the lubrication of the engines running the saws. Gulf Green 2T BIO should be used in engines running on water cooled two stroke, air cooled two stroke engines.
